Blog

Welcome to our blog! This is a place that we’ll try and keep our fans updated regularly with everything that is going on in our lives – from competing at tournaments in far flung destinations, to training in Milton Keynes and everything that we do outside of badminton such as walking our dog Bowser, supporting Chelsea FC (Chris mostly), and even indulging our passion for normal things like shopping, gardening and fashion (mostly Gabby!). Our lives are hectic, exciting and hopefully interesting to our fans and so we’d love to share some of this with you.

Please do feel free to comment on the blogs. We love reading comments and will do our best to reply when we can.

Upcoming PBL!

We’re excited that coming up soon will be Season 4 of the Premier Badminton League (PBL) Season 4 in India. Only a couple of weeks or so ago we woke up pretty early and watched the online live streaming for the auction of the players, I must say it was great to watch...

My favourite players: Gabby

A little while ago Chris did a blog discussing some of his favourite players, both past and present, which got me thinking about who mine are and thought this would be quite cool for me to share with you guys. I thought I’d start at the very beginning: Camilla Martin...

Six week Asia tour

Its been a few weeks now since our six week tour of Asia. Throughout June & July we had competitions in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand & Singapore followed by a training camp in Guangzhou, China and then on to the World Championships in Nanjing, also in China. This was...

Chris: My favourite players

I often get asked who was my favourite player or who inspired me most when I was younger, so I thought that I would put together a blog and share them with you. Peter Gade – Denmark What can I say about Peter… he is a badminton legend, he has flown the flag for Europe...

Back to winning ways

So someone asked me recently how it felt to get back to winning ways and there’s no way I can give an answer that justifies how utterly elated we are to not only be back playing regularly, but to also be winning titles again. It is EVERYTHING to us right now; that we...

Getting Back To Business

That day I fell over on court in India and heard my ankle pop seems like a mini lifetime ago now. So much has happened in the 12 weeks since. Naturally at times it’s felt like my frustration levels were going to boil over, but the hours of rehab and the team around us...

The comeback is on!

So the saying goes…. ‘fail to prepare; prepare to fail.’ One thing we’ve absolutely been doing lately is preparing. We’ve been preparing for our return to action for the first time since Gabby’s injury, preparing to finally get our 2018 campaign under way, and most...

Prepping for the Commonwealths

It hardly seems real that we won one of our most prestigious titles to date a little shy of four years ago when we won gold at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. In many ways, it feels just like yesterday. Chris and I often find ourselves reminiscing about that day...

Our 2020 Olympic Funding Boost

It’s funny how things can change quickly in sport. I’m not necessarily talking about things that happen on court, but more so the decisions that are made off it, and how these decisions and opinions of others can drastically affect your aspirations as an athlete. As a...

Getting on with it!

I write this blog from the rehab room where I’ve been spending so much of my time since we got home from India where we were competing in the Premier Badminton League (PBL). You might remember how excited we were to compete for the Chennai Smashers. It was something...

Dubai Dreaming

It’s here! Our final tournament of 2017 and the one that we’ve been looking forward to for months. It’s the Superseries Final in Dubai and we couldn’t be more excited for the event which starts on 13th December. When you think of a badminton tournament, you probably...

How We Prepare for Tournaments

We have been competing in Denmark and it’s a welcome relief to be playing in Europe given that so much of our time recently has been spent in Asia. Our preparation for European events is much the same as it is for any other tournament, and for this blog I thought I’d...
